i just had a horrible week at work.
next week is also shaping up to be horrible which is excellent news to receive while actively trying to recover from the first horrible week.
so my plans for saturday night were extremely ambitious: i wanted to do nothing.
my requirements were LOW:
1. snack engineering
wasn’t going to doordash again after literally getting my last 3 dinners doordashed last week, so i finally made this shrimp recipe thing i’ve wanted to try for ages which turned out ridiculously good btw. no clue what it’s called. but it’s very sushi-ish? that’s all i have for you. i had it with nori and sesame seeds and holy hell. we were SO back
2. turn into a warm little blob
i swear the work week feels more over once i’ve showered and changed into freshly washed clothes. saturday is laundry day too so everything smells nice and warm. lights off after that, comfy blanket, room a little cold. yeah. this is the shit.
3. choose tonight’s little moving pictures
this part is always fun because i almost never know what i want to watch until i’m already scrolling. i just wanted to get really invested in somebody else’s problems for two hours.
i saw paprika on Prime and !!! if you know me you know i love perfect blue and i’m pretty sure boh of these movies are by satoshi kun so i just clicked that shit so fast.

Paprika starts and within the first few minutes we’re already doing dreams and entering dreams and all this weird dream technology shit, and i was like wait.
was Inception inspired by this???
which was SUCH a harmless thought at first. i wasn’t even trying to analyze the movie or anything. it just looked so Inception-coded that once the thought entered my head i could not get it OUT.
every few minutes my brain was still on it. did Nolan watch this? how much did it inspire Inception? is this a known thing? am i just making the connection because both of them focus on dream tech???
and listen. i know myself. if i didn’t look it up right then i was going to spend the rest of the movie thinking about it anyway.
